Feature Presentation:
Finally, the last volume for this strange Anime series about the world of RPG. As we left off, our heroes enter a gate that Helba set up to meet with them to find out the truth about the World. They entered to a place call "Net Slum", which is created bu Helba from gathering deleted, lost or discarded files within The World. However, Subaru remains outside the gate, waiting for Tsukasa. Helba explains & give all what she knows about the unknown enemy that is present throughout the world. How can you defend someone like that? Lucky she figure out a possibility to defeat it, Aura! As they think through what is going on, they figure out what will the enemy next move will be which will bring Tsukasa into despair, achiving her goal. However, somehow, Sora seem to have allied with the enemy. With the final battle approaching, it's one of the best scene in this series. Courage & doing their best is what make it exciting. As a last trial, Subaru, Mimiru & Tsukasa got captured by Morganne & is tested their friendship. Well, that's all I'm going to say, I'm not gonna spoiled the ending for you, but I say it's really gonna shock you, but it's good music! A little note, Bandai Entertainment have finally given a name for this powerful enemy, Morganna.
Video:
Bandai Entertainment did a very great job. I found no problem, the image are clear & the color looks perfect. To top things off, the series is feature on Widescreen format. If you got a Widescreen TV, you're going to enjoy this even more. Each episodes are separated into 5 parts: the introduction, part A, part B, the ending & the preview for the next episode! The episodes are on different tracks, so when moving to the next episode, there will be a small loading time. Oh, at the end, after watching all of the episodes, you will see an English cast version of the ending credits, which is pretty cool. I do note that you can skip all those warnings & logos when you first load the DVD by just pressing the "Menu" button on your remote control.
Dubbing: English:
Like before, the English dubbing is well done. The voice of Helba is really solid. It's about 85% of the original Japanese.
Audio 01: English 2.0:
No problem found.
Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
No problem found.
Subtitle:
Bandai Entertainment have selected a great font, very easy to read. They use green for the introduction & ending themes, the rest is yellow & white for Japanese signs & text. It's pretty cool that the ending theme for both the English translated lyrics (in green), as well the original Japanese lyrics (in white). There are two tracks of subtitling. One track is for the sign subtitling & the other one is for the Japanese dialogue. However, at the last episode on this DVD, there is a song that doesn't have subtitled lyric at all. I guess they forgot or didn't bother putting one.
Menu Option:
The menu is also in widescreen format, but if got just a regular full screen TV, it will display in that format with no problem. Another change to the menu, yet another part of The World, with a gate spining with some clips from the episodes from this volume. The same function still exist, it still hold the "Play All", "Episodes", "Setup" & "Extras". The main theme is playing in the main menu in the background. The other section plays the original background music soundtracks.
DVD Extras:
As before, you get the standard isolated score audio track, the series with no sound effects or voices, just the background music. Here you also find the two bonus episodes, one is a special episode, "Intermezzo", made just for the DVD release of this series. I find it really touching & it's show what really playing a game is meant to be, along why Mimiru comes to play the game. The other episode is relaly boring, as it's mostly a summary & a recap of the first half of the series. There is also a little art gallery, just artwork from the episodes on this volume, including the bonuses one, along with other materials from previous volumes.
Packaging:
A note that Bandai Entertainment have maded changes to their DVDs, so if you got the other volumes, the DVD numbering is different. Everything else remains the same, keeping the same style as the other volumes. On the cover, you see Subaru & Tsukasa together, with a purple background. In the back, there is a design of hexagone with screenshots. The insert have the same picture as the cover. It also have a list of the cast & staff. Innside the insert have a list of all the hidden areas in The World. On the DVD disc itself, it's the same Subaru & Tsukasa as the cover, but with a different background. Wow, it's a surprise that the DVD case is a little more solid then previous. That's one change I'm glad they did.
PC Viewing:
Watching it on the PC is the same as watching it on the TV. Very clean, no problem at all, very little pixel (little squares popping in & out), both normal mode & full screen mode. The sound is just great. Since the episodes are on different tracks, there will be a small loading time when you move on to the next episode. Like on your regular DVD player, you can skip the warnings & logos when you load the disc, just use the "menu" option to go to the menu screen.
Overall DVD Rating:
The ending will be a shock, but it will reveal & explains many things that we couldn't figure out thoughout the series. The bonus episodes are the best yet!
