Music Presentation:
Special thanks to Geneon Anime Music for sending a copy for a review for this site. This is one of many Anime CDs that are domestic release. Fruits Basket is a very cute & lovable series & what make it even better, cute & lovable music that goes along with every moment of it. Here is it, the first release of Fruits Basket OST! There are two vocals, the introduction theme (Track 01) & the ending theme (Track 28), both are the TV size version. A little note that for all who have the series on DVD, you won't get the English "dubbed" version of these songs. The rest are charming background music, which can really make you remember the moments during the series. Maybe Track 03 when Yuki tells Tohru about his family secret or Track 08 when Kyo's first shows up. There are some part that are happy moments, like Track 02, when Tohru goes out for school & meets up with the Sohma for the first time. Yup, there is all out wild & crazy, like Track 06, when Tohru is shocked to see the house a total mess, then Track 17 when she starts cleaning the mess! The music is very beaty! Of course, there are sad parts, too, like Track 13, make you feeling lonely or Track 14, reflecting about Tohru's mother.
Audio 2.0:
I find no problem listening to the music. The tracks are well separated. Well, there is one problem, on Track 07, there is a little pop at the ending the track, like a second of music that suppose not to be there.
Packaging:
Since this Anime CD is a domestic release, it got almost the same as the original Japanese packaging, except with a few English adaptation changes. On the cover, you get to see Tohru, Yuki, Kyo & Shigure together in a picture frame in a light yellow background. In the back, only just the picture frame in the same yellow background. The track listing is pretty small to read & it's not seperated out, so you might take a moment to find the track you're in. You might noticed that Geneon Anime Music started to use their new logo! The insert is really cool. It gots lots of screenshots from the series, along with notes from the director & the composer. Also, there is the cast list & yes, both English translation & original Japanese text lyrics for both of the vocals. The CD disc itself is pretty much simple, just a very yellowish background with the title that is hard to see in that color! Since the CD case is a clear one, I was hoping to have a nice background, but just the same color used as the front & back, with a little note explaing the company "Star Child".
Overall CD Rating:
This series is very cute & heartful to see & the music makes you feel that way, too. The vocals & some of the background music are very relaxing. If you enjoy Fruits Basket, this is a great addition. Not only that, you will support Geneon Anime Music on releasing more Anime CDs in the near future.
