Introduction:
Something dark this way comes...

Hideki, beside himself with joy as he prepares for his first date with Yumi, fails to notice Chi's reactions. However, he runs into Minoru who reveals an interesting aspect about the mythical Chobits - urban-myth Persocom that possess free will! Yet, who has time for deep thought when rumors say someone was murdered in the apartment downstairs - Chi definitely hears something strange below them! Finally, with some time for rest & relaxation, Hideki borrows a game machine & enters a virtual reality world with Shinbo, Sumomo & Chi, but where does Chi go?!

Contains Episodes:
  • Episode 09: Chi Buys
  • Episode 10: Chi Meets
  • Episode 11: Chi Confirms
  • Episode 12: Chi Plays

Feature Presentation:
Special thanks to Geneon Entertainment for sending a copy for a review for this site. This cute series about Persocom keep getting better & better. Chi finally got her first pay check from her work at Tirol & it's the first time she goes shopping & get something for Hideki. As a present back for Chi, he decide to take her to the bath, but he need to teach Chi how to do so. Boy, didn't know it's gonna take a lot of effort! Will he able to do so? Chi is just a Persocom after all. His shyness is our laughter. Hideki is a normal guy after all. Don't you remember the first date? Hideki got a chance with the cute Yumi. Lucky! Though, in EPS 11, that's a little scary episode. Make sure you watch this at night with the light turn off to get the full effect! The last, Hideki got his first DVD player & his first RPG game! Shimbo & Sumomo joins Hideki. However, Chi joins in the game, too, but however, where did she go? Still, you will get another load of laughing fun, as well Chi's cuteness.

Video:
Geneon Entertainment did a very great job, just like the first volume. I found no problem, the image are clear & the color looks perfect. To top things off, the series is feature on Widescreen format. If you got a Widescreen TV, you're going to enjoy this even more. Each episode are split into 5 parts, introduction, part A, part B, ending & preview for the next episode. Since all the episodes are on one single track on the DVD, there is no loading time or changing tracks when you move on to the next episode. However, if you use the auto-replay track option, it will not work, it will just go back to the menu. I do note that you can skip all those warnings & logos when you first load the DVD by just pressing the "Menu" button on your remote control.

Dubbing: English:
The English dubbing is well done. The dubbing is the same style. The dialogue even includes Japanese terms, like "seipai". Geneon Entertainment left them so it can be as close to the Japanese dialogue. It's about 85% of the original Japanese.

Audio 01: English 2.0:
No problem found.

Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
No problem found.

Subtitle:
As the other volumes, Geneon Entertainment is using the same great font, very easy to read. They use green for the introduction & ending themes, the rest is yellow & white for Japanese signs & text. There are two tracks of subtitling. One track is for the sign subtitling & the other one is for the Japanese dialogue. I might note that every odd numbered episodes, the intro & ending subtitles are in English, while the even numbered episodes are in Japanese original text on this volume.

Menu Option:
The menu is also in widescreen format, but if got just a regular full screen TV, it will display in that format with no problem. As before, you log in when Chi powers up. It's very simple & clean. The menu design remains the same, except it's another picture of Chi trying on her PJ. There is the "Play All", a selection of one of the 4 episodes, "Screen Access", "Set Up" & "Extras". Selecting any options, except if you pick the episodes directly, you will get a little computer changing animation. They did change the background music, well, it's not a musical tone anymore, but some computer sounds. Though, I perfer having the main theme like the first two volumes of this series playing in the music background! The other section has no backgound music or sound still.

DVD Extras:
Another set of the same extra, but just different content. This time, you will get the original Japanese opening theme. Also, there is an art gallery, again with just 5 images, though, they aren't screenshots!

Packaging:
The package carries the same style as the other volumes, this time, it's green. You get to see another artwork of Chi, smiling under the umbrella, on the cover. In the back, just a few screenshots, one from each episode on this volume, along with the same picture as the cover. The insert is all pictures from the beach! You will get an episode list & no, it's not a chapter list. Inside the insert is a mini-poster with Hideki & all the female characters he meets! Since the DVD case is a clear one, you see a nice picture of Chi in a sexy pose, with Hideki panicing in shock! To top things off, the insert match right up with it! On the DVD disc itself, it's a light green background with Sumomo. However, it's hard to see her.

PC Viewing:
Watching it on the PC is the same as watching it on the TV. Very clean, no problem at all, very little pixel (little squares popping in & out), both normal mode & full screen mode. The sound is just great. The episodes are place on one single track as you play the episodes, so loading time is really small. You can fast forward to the first episode to the last episode with one move on your mouse! Like on your regular DVD player, you can skip the warnings & logos when you load the disc, just use the "menu" option to go to the menu screen.

Overall DVD Rating:
This series keep getting better & better, keep on watching...
