Feature Presentation:
Special thanks to Geneon Entertainment for sending a copy for a review for this site. Now things are getting a bit more relax then usual. During a physical check-up for everyone, it ends up that Gloria didn't passed & only got a week left to live. The girls are worried what to do, so they decided to try to make Gloria as confortable as possible & their mission is to make her wish comes true. It turns out to be alot of fun & disaters at the same time. However, all things settle down, the team heads out to Siberia City for a company trip, for total relaxation. However, Maia felt strange that she seem to feel that she been there before, but it is the first time she been there. Here is where you get to know Maia's past & her grandfather, a secret that she kept away from her fellow teammates. Back at home, it's the centennial celebration, which everyone is assigned to patrol the city. You get to know a bit more the history of the world of tomorrow & how the city was formed. However, Maia got other plans after her duty is done.
Video:
Geneon Entertainment did a very great job, again. I found no problem, the image are clear & the color looks perfect. There is some watermarks done for the introduction & ending credits (they are translated in English). Since all the episodes are on one single track on the DVD, there is no loading time or changing tracks when you move on to the next episode. Each episode is split into 5 parts: introduction, part A, part B, ending & the preview for the next episode! I do note that you can skip the warnings & logos in the beginning using the "Menu" button on your remote.
Dubbing: English:
The English dubbing is well done. All the voices matched quite well for all the characters, cute & sweet, but keeping that tone that when things get serious. It's about 85% of the original Japanese.
Audio 01: English 2.0:
No problem found.
Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
No problem found.
Subtitle:
Geneon Entertainment have selected a great font, easy to read. They use green for the introduction & ending themes, white for any text subtitling & yellow for the dialogues. One track is for the sign subtitling & the other one is for the Japanese dialogue. I might note that every odd numbered episodes, the intro & ending subtitles are in English, while the even numbered episodes are in Japanese original text.
Menu Option:
The menu design remains the same. There are eye shots from the babes of Nereides, along with screenshots from the episodes in this volume. There is the "Play All", "Screen Access", "Set Up" & "Extras". Selecting any of the options will make a little animation like you're moving in the water. The background music is the introduction music. However, it's only for the main menu, there is no music playing in the other screen section.
DVD Extras:
This time is seem a bit more interesting, a collection of the original Japanese DVD covers art gallery. That's about it.
Packaging:
It's the same design as the previous volume. On the cover, you see Shizuka in her uniform. In the back, you see a Manga version Yuu, along with screenshots from the episodes in this volume. In the insert, there is the chapter list with a screenshot from each episode, along with the upcoming releases date for the rest of the series. Inside the insert, it's another mini-poster of Maia, Manga-style. On the disc itself, it's Shizuka, the same as the cover. Since the DVD case is a clear, you get to see the reversible cover, which you will see a very sexy Rena.
PC Viewing:
Watching it on the PC is the same as watching it on the TV. Very clean, no problem at all, very little pixel (little squares popping in & out), both normal mode & full screen mode. The sound is just great. The episodes are place on one single track as you play the episodes, so loading time is really small. You can fast forward to the beginning to the end with one move on your mouse! Like on your regular DVD player, you can skip the warnings & logos when you load the disc, just use the "menu" option to go to the menu screen.
Overall DVD Rating:
It's such a sadness to know that you were dieing, but enjoying life what counts the most. Here is where you get a bit of history, both the Maia's past & the world she is living in, which is great to know. I feel that there will be a sense of mystery to discover the truth about Maia's hidden past.
