Introduction:
With the death of his mother, a nerdy third-year middle student, Taro Hanaukyo, traveled to Tokyo to meet his grandfather. What Taro saw there was a huge estate that was so immense he couldn't see from one end to the other, as well as countless number of beautiful maids. Taro was the grandson of Hokusai Hanaukyo, who amassed the Hanaukyo Family's fortune single-handedly. However, Hokusai was absent from the estate and, all of a sudden, Taro was handed the family's inheritance & ended up being the head of household for the Hanaukyo Family - a family so wealthy that it even has the power to divide the country of Japan. The maids Taro ends up living with are such characters as Mariel, the head of the maids; Konoe Tsurugi of the Security Department; Ikuyo Suzuki of the Technology Department; & Grace, the computer expert. Each of those characters possesses an unique talent & they comprise a group of maids with different expertise called the "Hanaukyo Maid Team". Taro spends his days at the mercy of those maids' antics, whose top & only priority is to "serve the head of household, Master Taro!".

Feature Presentation:
Special thanks to Geneon Entertainment for sending a copy for a review for this site. Here we go again, with another Anime series with maids. It might seem silly, but I find it cute & hilarious to watch. Yup, like most maids, there are naughty parts! It's like everyone dream to live in such wealth & power, not to mention exteremly lucky as Taro Hanaukyo can ever get. We started off that Taro's mother has passed away & ended up in the care of his grandfather, who he never met before. Little that he knows, his grandfather is very wealthy, so much that his estate got many maids! To his surprise, he is having a hard time adjusting to his new life, trying to be himself, but holding up to be the head of the family. Not to mention all the attentions that the maids gives him is driving him nuts. Later on, Taro must avoid getting married to a rival family & future head Ryuka, though Mariel is there to save the day accepting her challenge who is the better woman. It was so much fun. To get to know a little more about the personal life of all Taro's maids, a little secret has come between Cynthia & Grace, which I find it very sweet, along the hot headed Konoe! It just proved that being yourself is the best way to be.

Video:
Geneon Entertainment did a very great job, again. I found no problem, the image are clear & the color looks perfect. There is some watermarks done for the introduction & ending credits (they are translated in English). Since all the episodes are on one single track on the DVD, there is no loading time or changing tracks when you move on to the next episode. Each episode is split into 5 parts: introduction, part A, part B, ending & the preview for the next episode! I do note that you can skip the warnings & logos in the beginning using the "Menu" button on your remote.

Dubbing: English:
The English dubbing is well done. All the voices matched quite well for all the characters, especially for Mariel. There is a sweet sound to her & you can understand why Taro feels what he feels. The dialogue even includes Japanese terms, like "chan" or "sama". It's about 85% of the original Japanese.

Audio 01: English 2.0:
No problem found.

Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
No problem found.

Subtitle:
Geneon Entertainment have selected a great font, easy to read, though a little small. They use green for the introduction & ending themes, white for any text subtitling & yellow for the dialogues. One track is for the sign subtitling & the other one is for the Japanese dialogue. I might note that every odd numbered episodes, the intro & ending subtitles are in English, while the even numbered episodes are in Japanese original text.

Menu Option:
The menu is pretty simple. There you see Mariel, though the image is really not the best one, with flower petals flying in the background. There is the "Play All", "Screen Access", "Set Up" & "Extras". The background music is the introduction music. However, it's only for the main menu, there is no music playing in the other screen section.

DVD Extras:
There isn't much extras, just the non-credit opening. That's about it.

Packaging:
It's a very colorful. There, you see Taro & Mariel together. In the back, the episodes are listed with screenshots from each of them. The only thing is a bother is the description, the font is really small to read. The insert is really special, featuring an original artwork of the cover image. There is the chapter list, along with the upcoming releases date for the rest of the series. On the disc itself, it's the same as the cover. Since the DVD case is a clear, you get to see the reversible cover, which you will see Cynthia & Grace, which is the same image used for what is on the DVD disc itself.

PC Viewing:
Watching it on the PC is the same as watching it on the TV. Very clean, no problem at all, very little pixel (little squares popping in & out), both normal mode & full screen mode. The sound is just great. The episodes are place on one single track as you play the episodes, so loading time is really small. You can fast forward to the beginning to the lend with one move on your mouse! Like on your regular DVD player, you can skip the warnings & logos when you load the disc, just use the "menu" option to go to the menu screen.

Overall DVD Rating:
Taro must feel very lucky. However, living in such an estate isn't that easy that everyone think it is. I find it really sweet, cute & funny as we join Taro & all the maids that make every day exciting.
