Feature Presentation:
Special thanks to Geneon Entertainment for sending a copy for a review for this site. Wow, it's another fighting series, but with a lead female character. Honestly, I find it a little confusing on what's going on, so so you really need to pay attention on what is going on. Once again, the battle for Kanto have started & every fighter is out for control. However, each fighter have an unique spirit bead that hold an ancient warrior & a symbol to show that they are truthly a fighter. However, a girl, Hakufu Sonsaku, came to Kanto one day, but she is holding the legendary Shou-Haou spirit with her, which everone believes that Shou-Haou is one of the most strongest warrior of them all. Believing it's a big threat, Totaku, a power force, is set off to terminate Hakufu Sonsaku. Don't you worry, Koukin, her childhood friend, promise her that he will protect her. Hakufu also work & do her best, as she is a very fast learner. It's a very interesting series, but I do warn you, there is naughy parts, like big bouncy boobies!
Video:
Geneon Entertainment did a very great job, again. I found no problem, the image are clear & the color looks perfect. There is some watermarks done for the introduction & ending credits (they are translated in English). Since all the episodes are on one single track on the DVD, there is no loading time or changing tracks when you move on to the next episode. Each episode is split into 5 parts: introduction, part A, part B, ending & the preview! I do note that you can skip the warnings & logos in the beginning using the "Menu" button on your remote.
Dubbing: English:
The English dubbing is well done. It's about 85% of the original Japanese.
Audio 01: English 2.0:
No problem found.
Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
No problem found.
Subtitle:
Geneon Entertainment have selected a great font, easy to read. They use light blue (not the usual green) for the introduction & ending themes, white for any text subtitling & yellow for the dialogues. One track is for the sign subtitling & the other one is for the Japanese dialogue. I might note that every odd numbered episodes, the intro & ending subtitles are in English, while the even numbered episodes are in Japanese original text.
Menu Option:
The menu is quite simple. There is a small animation of cool water effects, with the picture of Hakufu & Ryomou togerher. There is the "Play All", the selection for each episode, "Screen Access", "Set Up" & "Extras". The background music is the main theme of this series, but the other section don't have any background music. I find it really cute the little flower as the button. Selecting any options, other then the "Play All" or the individual episodes will have a small clip of Hakafu kicking. It's really cool.
DVD Extras:
There is a non-credit opening, along with an art gallery that is composed the images used on the covers, along with screenshots in the episodes in this volume. There is also a hidden outtakes section somewhere on this DVD, but I can't find it. If I do, I'll let you know. Outttakes are always funny to watch.
Packaging:
It's a very colorful cover. You get to see the sexy Hakufu with one sexy dress. On the back, it's another picture of Hakufu in her school uniform, with screenshots from each episode in this volume. The insert has two pictures of Hakufu, one like the cover, the one one is a china dress. Inside the insert, you get a mini-poster of Hakufu & Ryomou, another female fighter. On the disc itself, it's another picture of Hakufu, the same picture as the insert with the china dress, with a very nice background. Since the DVD case is a clear, you get to see the reversible cover, with Ryomou all over instead of Hakufu.
PC Viewing:
Watching it on the PC is the same as watching it on the TV. Very clean, no problem at all, very little pixel (little squares popping in & out), both normal mode & full screen mode. The sound is just great. The episodes are place on one single track as you play the episodes, so loading time is really small. You can fast forward to the first episode to the last episode with one move on your mouse! The only thing annoying is the menu option. You have to click on the flower icon to make the selection, instead of the word, for example, "Play". Like on your regular DVD player, you can skip the warnings & logos when you load the disc, just use the "menu" option to go to the menu screen.
Overall DVD Rating:
I find it quite interesting, but it's a little confusing to grasp what's going on with the odd names going around. I do suggest to pay attention. However, it's nice to see girls kicking guys' butt for a change.
