Feature Presentation:
Panties, panties & more panties! I stop counting all those panties shots, there are so many. It's not only that, but it's a pretty cool series. Well, the world is all covered with water after an major earthquake. I wonder why the story didn't introduced what happen at the beginning, maybe in a later episode. Najica is the best perfumier in the cosmictic business with a very good sense of smell. But, that's her daily job. Her other life is being one of the best Secret Agent to fight the world's criminal & terrorist, call upon by the sign of a red rose. It's basically James Bond, but with a sexy female as a Secret Agent. She was always solo, until she rescue an strange girl, Lila. Well, I don't want to spoil the rest of the series, but I do enjoy when females kicking butt, instead just males all the time.
Video:
ADV Films did a very great job. I found no problem, the image are clear & the color looks perfect. The episodes are on a different track, so there will be a small loading time when you move on to the next episode. I do note that you can skip all those warnings & logos when you first load the DVD by just pressing the "Menu" button on your remote control.
Dubbing: English:
The dubbing is really great. The voice for Najica suit the role she plays, professional, yet sexy. They pick the cast very well. It's about 85% of the original Japanese.
Audio 01: English 5.1:
Unable to test it, since I don't have a 5.1 surround system, I can't really say much.
Audio XX: English 2.0:
Just letting you know, there isn't an English 2.0 audio track on this DVD. This is artificially made from the 5.1 audio track, that's why I noted it as "XX". I found no problem with the audio, but I bet it would be alot more interesting with the 5.1.
Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
No problem found.
Subtitle:
ADV Films have selected a great font, very easy to read. They use yellow for the introduction, ending themes & the Japanese dialogue & white for Japanese signs & text. There are two tracks of subtitling. One track is for the sign subtitling & the other one is for the Japanese dialogue. I might note that every odd numbered episodes, the intro & ending subtitles are in English, while the even numbered episodes are in Japanese, for you to do some karaoke!
Menu Option:
The menu is really simple, starting off with a red rose. The little animation sequence came from the introduction then. Most of the menus are all white. There isn't a "Play All" feature, just a selection of one of the 4 episodes, "Screen Access", "Set Up" & "Extras". When you select one of the episodes, you get shooting guns chasing Najica. If you select the "Extras", you get the sexy Najica zipping out of her wet suit. Very hot! The main theme is playing in the background.
DVD Extras:
There isn't much extras on it, just a non-credit opening & ending, as well a production sketches. There is also a commentary with Kira Vincent Davis (Najica) & Monica Rial (Lila) for only the EPS 03. It is nice to get the opinions of the voice cast about the series, but it's mostly two girls just having fun, nothing serious.
Packaging:
Wow, the packaging is pretty white. I haven't seen many with a white background cover. You see Najica & Lila (is Najica rubbing Lila?). In the back, you get to see screenshots. The insert is just another picture of Najica, as well the list of chapters on this DVD. On the DVD disc, it's all white. Well, as I mention before, there are lots of panties shots throughout the series, mostly white panties. So you can understand why the package is mostly white! Yes, the DVD case itself is also white.
PC Viewing:
Watching it on the PC is the same as watching it on the TV. Very clean, no problem at all, very little pixel (little squares popping in & out), both normal mode & full screen mode. The sound is just great. Since the episodes are on different tracks, it will take time to load when you move on to the next episode. Like on your regular DVD player, you can skip the warnings & logos when you load the disc, just use the "menu" option to go to the menu screen.
Overall DVD Rating:
I say females kicks butts. Hope you won't mind all the panties shots!
