Feature Presentation:
Oh, Ronin Warroirs, that series gave me alot of good old memories. It's one of the first Anime I ever watch. Now, it's on DVD, which is cool. Yup, Bandai Entertainment left it as I have seen them for the first time. They are 4 episodes on this DVD. If you never seen it, the action starts right from the beginning as the evil Emperor looms over Tokyo. Mia & her grandfather knows the legends that if the day of evil will come, 5 warriors will appeared to fight & protect our world from being slaved. Yes, this DVD holds the original uncut Japanese version, but there is one thing I didn't like, they split the Japanese & English version on both side of the discs. One side is the English version, flipped the disc, get the Japanese version.
Video:
Bandai Entertainment didn't take the time to enhance or improve the video quality, they left it as it is. This Anime is over 10 years old & I find it pretty neat. I see a few spots here & there during the episodes, but it doesn't bother me much. Same goes for the Japanese version.
Audio 01: English 2.0:
The audio is just fine for an old classic. No problems, everything is all clear.
Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
It's annoying that I have to flipped the disc around to watch & hear the Japanese version. Beside that, no problem with the audio.
Subtitle:
The subtitling option is only on the Japanese side of the DVD disc. You can turn it on or off. Subtitling isn't that bolded, but it's enough that is clear to read.
Menu Option:
Nothing interesting. It will just ask you to select "Play It All" mode or select what episodes, which is divided in 4 parts. Same goes for the Japanese version, except you got the subtitling option. There is a cool group shot, plus the theme song is playing as the background.
DVD Extras:
All they say for extra is the uncut version of Ronin Warrior, that's all. No image gallery, no comments of the directors, no nothing. This bites!
Packaging:
The cover of the DVD case is cool, it's can be reverse. The English side, which is defaulted, got the Ronin Warrior group shot with the English version title. The back is just Ryu with his White tiger with a description. It's the same thing for the Japanese cover (on the other side), except that the description is much detailed. One more thing, there is no DVD cover, the disc is made on both side, the English version on one side, the Japanese version on the other. This sucks totally, because you have to be careful not to damage the top while placing the bottom on your DVD player. This is so cheap! On top of that, it comes with a cheap DVD case!
Overall DVD Rating:
I only get this DVD because Ronin Warriors might be a classic Anime & it brings back lots of memories, but I say Bandai Entertainment has been cheap releasing the DVD version. No extra, no enhancement, just how it is. Plus, they even put it on both side of the disc, which, to what I have seen, rarely done. At least, they did release the uncut Japanese version.
