Feature Presentation:
The is the second movie of Sailor Moon, the second feature to be release on DVD, uncut & uncensored. The movie is place during the S series. You also get to see the Outer Sailor Scouts: Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune & Sailor Pluto. This movie is mostly focus on Luna, Serena's cat & the story how she fells in love for the first time & how far she will go for it. However, she have to make many decisions.
Video:
It's kinda sad that Geneon Entertainment didn't do a little restoration, I guess they want to keep it original as possible. I found no problem, just the images is a little fuzzy, but it is an old Anime series after all. Also, there seem to have watermarking done, in the introduction, they added the English translated directly (no option to remove it), as well you don't get to see the original Japanese ending credits. You can skip the warning & logos when you first load the DVD by pressing the menu button on your remote straight to the menu, however, you will still get a Pioneer logo right before the feature presentation.
Dubbing: English:
Again, Geneon Entertainment never did the dubbing, it's the same dubbing as you saw the series on TV, except there is more due it's an uncut version. You know that the English dubbing of Sailor Moon is kinda horrible. The dubbing was made before the Sailor Moon S series was dubbed, meaning this is one of the last dubbing from the original English cast of Sailor Moon you grown so used to. Oh, just letting you know, this is the first time you see the dubbed version of Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune & Sailor Pluto.
Audio 01: English 2.0:
No problem found.
Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
The Japanese track is a little bit louder then the English track. Other then that, no problem found.
Subtitle:
Geneon Entertainment use the same font as the other volumes of Sailor Moon. There is two text for the the introduction & ending themes subtitling, yellow is use for both original Japanese text & the translation text. The Japanese dialogues are also in yellow. There is only one subtitle track, meaning there is a lacking subtitle for the ending theme translation during the English audio track (you have to turn the subtitle on to have it).
Menu Option:
The menu carried the same style as the first movie release, using the same boring background music. You get to see Sailor Moon with her scepter. There is the "Play", "Screen Access", "Set Up" & "Extras".
DVD Extras:
There is some extras on this DVD. You will get the original English introduction that they use for the edit version. There is the bio of the Sailor Scouts, a art gallery & information about Princess Kaguya. Geneon Entertainment fnally included the original Japanese version of the ending on to this DVD.
Packaging:
The package is the same design as the Sailor Moon R: The Movie. You see Sailor Moon on the cover in a blue starry background. In the back, you get three screenshots. The insert is just the list of chapters. The DVD cover is the same as the cover, without Sailor Moon on it.
PC Viewing:
Watching it on the PC is the same as watching it on the TV. Very clean, no problem at all, very little pixel (little squares popping in & out), both normal mode & full screen mode. The sound is just great. The movie is place on one single track, so loading time is really small. You can fast forward to the first episode to the last episode with one move on your mouse! Like on your regular DVD player, you can skip the warnings & logos when you load the disc, just use the "menu" option to go to the menu screen.
Overall DVD Rating:
Well, I only enjoy the original Japanese version. I still think the dubbing could be better.
