Feature Presentation:
Finally, the last three episodes for this cute series, the final DVD. I don't want to spoiled the ending for you, but I find it a little sad, but sweet. Hibiki & Fuko is confused about their feelings for each other. The vice-principal is getting closer to find Hibiki's secret. Man, the vice-principal is sure evil. Plus, you get to find out who is Ba-chan really is. The fun part is, you get to see a transforming robot. Also, a warning how to safely watch the TV remains, but done by the female version of Hibiki Amawa.
Video:
Geneon Entertainment did a very great job. They have taken the time to do it right. I found no problem, the image are clear & the color looks perfect. However, I wonder why they didn't left the original Japanese staff credit of the last episode of the series. Each episodes are separated into 5 parts: the introduction, part A, part B, ending & the preview for the next episode! Since all the episodes are on one single track on the DVD, there is no loading time or changing tracks when you move on to the next episode. However, if you use the auto-replay track option on your DVD player, it will not work, it will just go back to the menu. I do note that you can skip all those warnings & logos when you first load the DVD by just pressing the "Menu" button on your remote control.
Dubbing: English:
The English dubbing is well done. They still kept the same format for dubbing as the first 3 volumes. The dialogue even includes Japanese terms, like "chan" or "seipai". The only thing that I didn't like about the dubbing is on the last episode at the end, there isn't much impact as the original Japanese voices. It's about 85% of the original Japanese.
Audio 01: English 2.0:
No problem found.
Audio 02: Japanese 2.0:
The Japanese track is louder then the English track. Other then that, no problem found.
Subtitle:
Geneon Entertainment have selected a great font, yellow for the Japanese dialogue, white for the Japanese signs & texts, very easy to read. However, the opening theme, ending theme & Japanese songs played in the episodes are green & italic, which is a little hard to read, since green doesn't really pop up so easily.
Menu Option:
Yup, the same style. Before you enter the menu, you will get a introduction from the female of "Hibiki Amawa" (in English) on how to run the menu. Looks familiar? Yup, a green board from your classroom with a rotating logo. Though, the music is out of place. Country anyone? The music stop for a while & it goes again after a minute or so. The menu is very simple & easy to move around.
DVD Extras:
There are 3 extras. You get to see the original commercial that they use in Japan for the Japanese DVD releases. You get to meet the principal & the vice-principal. I don't know why they didn't do one for the teachers or Hibiki (female). It's only on audio. You can get some clips form the Manga version of this series popping in & out. I find it funny! By the way, you can see it in English & in Japanese. The last one is just a standard art gallery.
Packaging:
I find this is the best one out of the 4 DVD releases. Yes, it's Hibiki (female) & Fuko again, but it's so cute. In the back, it's no longer Fuko's friends, but Hibiki (male) & Fuko. The cover really suit well with the white DVD case that came along with it, however, this volume have a different DVD case then the other three. The DVD disc itself is just a plain green. The insert is a mini-poster, cute pictures on it, along with the episode list & translation of some Japanese terms.
PC Viewing:
Watching it on the PC is the same as watching it on the TV. Very clean, no problem at all, very little pixel (little squares popping in & out), both normal mode & full screen mode. The sound is just great. The episodes are place on one single track as you play the episodes, so loading time is really small. You can fast forward to the first episode to the last episode with one move on your mouse! Like on your regular DVD player, you can skip the warnings & logos when you load the disc, just use the "menu" option to go to the menu screen.
Overall DVD Rating:
I love the ending, it's sad, but really sweet. Always keep a smile.
