Hardware Presentation:
Special thanks to CyberLink for sending me this little remote for a review for this site, as well making easier for me to review all the DVD on the PC. I been a PowerDVD user since version 4.0 & CyberLink been keeping their simple & easy to use features since then. Since then, two more versions have came out: version 5.0 & now 6.0, both featuring the same asy to use interface & DVD enhancements. However, that's not all. They have also release a PowerRemote. Originally, it meant to work with their software, PowerCinema v3.0, but after a while, they release a new patch for PowerDVD v5.0. With the new version of PowerDVD 6.0, it's fully functional with PowerRemote without needing any patches. Not only I can watch DVDs on my PC at a distance, it remove the needs for the keyboard or the mouse while watching on the PC.
Features:
The remote features the standard buttons you see in all the newly DVD Players out there. The standard, Play, Fast-Forward, Fast-Rewind, Skip, Pause & so on. Also, there is the volume control. There are other functions that I don't know what it does or it doesn't work with PowerDVD. I figure that it is for PowerCinema v3.0. The only downside that there is no software or anything to configure the buttons or the functions of the remote. Also, this remote is only works to CyberLink PowerDVD & PowerCinema v3.0. However, some of the standard buttons does work in Windows Media Player, not anything else, beside controlling the volume, no other software can be access with this remote.
DVD Viewing:
Since I'm using PowerDVD for all the reviews of the Anime DVDs & test them via the PC, this actually save me time. Plus, I can sit back & enjoy without touching the keyboard, nor the mouse to move around the DVD.
Overall Hardware Rating:
If you're a big fan of PowerDVD, this is a great add-on. However, it does have it limited use, but I find it quite useful for the work I do. The rest is up to you to decide. It all depends what you use your computer for.
